Our Story
Sippy Cup Café is the best of both worlds - a trendy, modern coffee house with great coffee and designated kids’ play area where parents can get peace of mind.
The idea of a kid-friendly coffeehouse came to us February 2010 when my wife and I reminisced about the times when we would go out on a Sunday morning, and enjoy a great cup of coffee together. All that changes when you have a toddler that won't sit still for more than five minutes, thus were inspired to create a great coffeehouse for parents to relax while they still being able to keep a watchful eye on their precious little ones. We also didn't want to discourage anyone from coming out to enjoy premium java in a warm and cozy atmosphere, so we designed a Café layout that could contain the sound of happy kids playing from those who just would like escape reality while indulging in absolute perfection in a cup.
The mission of Sippy Cup Café is to provide premium coffee and tea served by one of our skilled baristas. Sippy Cup Café provides a trendy, cozy setting for our clients and a sectioned off fun and safe area for toddlers and preschoolers aged 0-5. The kids area includes play structures, toys for kids of various ages, and is also be outfitted with tables and chairs for parents to sit in while enjoying coffees and snacks. We hope to have you join us soon for a cup.
Despite many people being skeptical about the dream to merge a coffee house and an indoor kid’s area, Sippy Cup Café has become a local hit from the day it opened its doors. When you step in, you will be greeted by the friendly staff of baristas. Focusing on organic and Fair Trade coffees as well as quality homemade baked goods and Panini’s, Sippy Cup Café prides itself in its consistency and quality.
Sippy Cup Café proudly supports local community efforts and entrepreneurs. We have held a food drive for the Kanata Food Cupboard; we buy our espresso beans from a local roaster; we have local bands perform at the Café on Jazz night and we support local photographers by exhibiting their art in the Café. Sippy Cup Café also showcases many Mompreneur products and businesses.
Sippy Cup Café also focuses on the development of children with planned activities such as weekly story time and yoga for kids. Sippy Cup Café is truly a community coffee house with something for everyone.
